"Congress leaders moving in to his Party has been pictured as a major issue but in reality the Congress is on the verge of extinct in the state. People coming in droves speak of their desperation for a political platform and welcoming them shows the weakness of TDP" party spokesperson Vasireddy Padma told reporters here.
Changing parties is not an uncommon practice in politics, but the way TDP has been projecting the entry of some of the Congress leaders only emphasizes the fact that Chandrababu Naidu needs crutches to fight this election as his own strength has proved to be very tiny in the recent by-polls.
"The way the TDP leader has been talking only establishes that he has no leaders in the constituencies from where leaders are joining and his appeal to the cadre to adjust and restrain themselves to bear the inconvenience shows the desperate state he is in," she said.
Congress has committed many blunders from the day it has forced YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to leave the Party till the division of the State and it will be wiped out in the State. In this backdrop, some of the orphaned leaders may look towards other parties and TDP opening its gates like a political rehabilitation centre only shows the bankruptcy of ideology of both the parties, she said.
"The whole exercise seems like Congress and TDP merger as the latter has saved Congress on numerous occasions. It has helped it at the Centre during FDI voting and saved the Kiran Kumar Government in the State during the no confidence motion we have moved," she said
"The coming together of Congress and TDP is no more news. The two have the common ideology of taking on YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. But they will not succeed as it was proved in the previous by-polls and this time, the wave would be stronger as YSRCP was with the people and the two parties have been drifting away from the people, she added.
