Team DramSpry wins SAS business analytics and data mining championship 2017

SAS India, the leader in business analytics software and services, in association with NMIMS announced the winners of Business Analytics and Data Mining Championship 2017.

Team DramSpry comprising of Shreya Piplani and Shreya Kekre from School of Science NMIMS won Business Analytics and Data Mining Championship (BADM) for the penultimate challenge called the 'Business Analytics & Data Mining Championship 2017.'

The grand finale challenge aimed at creating a solution that would help students in shaping their academic performance and personalities for a better future by identifying monetary success in early life of the student's career. The team won Rs. two lakh along with verified winners badge from SAS and a sponsored trip to USA to compete in SAS Global Forum.

 

Business Analytics and Data Mining Championship invited graduates and post-graduates from various colleges to participate in an exciting analytics challenge spread across three stages; Online Assessment, Problem Solving and Presentation. The championship this year received an overwhelming response from over 1200 tech enthusiasts across the country.

Speaking on the occasion Noshin Kagalwalla, Managing Director, SAS India said, "Business Analytics and Data Mining Championship is a unique platform for aspiring tech enthusiasts to present their capabilities in solving real life challenges. I believe the quality talent our country offers to the IT industry is remarkable considering the way they are able to harness their digital skills and conceptualize solutions in such inventive ways. It was overwhelming to witness all participants put their grey cells to test and present creative solutions to address some of our nation's most critical problems."

"The championship served as an excellent platform that allowed students to demonstrate their data science skills. The creativity and depth of talent we have witnessed is amazing. The championship tested participants on their data management, statistical and visualization skills that top companies look for while hiring a data scientist. I would like to congratulate all the winners for some very innovative and applied solutions." said Bhuvan Nijhawan, Director Education - Asia Pacific, SAS.

Hundred participants out of those registered were shortlisted for Round - two based on the Online Assessment. These participants were divided in 37 teams and were presented the final challenge in form of a problem statement in a live techthon conducted at NMIMS Campus. The techies made the best use of State of art SAS Software such as VA, E-miner, SAS Enterprise Guide and Base SAS to solve the problem statement.
