China's Science and Technology Minister Wan Gang has said that technological innovation and cooperation will contribute to the construction of a Silk Road economic belt.
Wan said that President Xi Jinping's proposal of constructing a Silk Road has received wide recognition and support from the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) members.
The minister said that technology innovation explains the reason why it is called as the 'new' Silk Road which will be based on the development of high technology and economic growth.
He further said that the technology cooperation agreement signed at the summit will open up a new prospect for multilateral technology cooperation.
