Teenager killed, 7 injured in celebratory gunfire after Pak's Champion's Trophy win

A 15-year-old boy was killed and more than half a dozen sustained injuries in celebratory firing which took place in different parts of Karachi after Pakistan won their maiden Champions Trophy title after their astounding win over arch-rivals India on Sunday.

It is reported that the law enforcers were unable to control the display of arms and gunfire in some areas till late Sunday night.

The Dawn quoted SHO Javed Sikander as saying that the boy, standing in the balcony of his house in Model Colony's Sheet-25 in Karachi, was hit by a bullet and he died during the treatment at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.

 

The police officer further said that his family did not approach the police for registration of an First Investigation Report (FIR).

Police Surgeon Dr Aijaz Khokhar also informed that seven other sustained gunshot wounds in other such incidents.

The Sarfraz Ahmed-led side on Sunday came out on top with a commendable all-round performance as they defeated India by 180 runs at The Oval to lift their maiden Champions Trophy title.
