The Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav on Saturday said the vehicle involved in the Muzaffarpur accident belonged to the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) General Secretary.
Talking to ANI, Yadav said, "It's unfortunate. We are being told the vehicle belongs to a BJP General Secretary and the driver is absconding and administration has not been able to arrest him so far. Relatives of the deceased are saying that the vehicle has a BJP board attached to it and people in it were intoxicated."
The RJD leader also alleged Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi were trying to shield the culprit.
"Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Modi Ji are nowhere to be seen. Both of them are trying to shield the culprit. Where did the driver get the liquor from when there is a ban on liquor in the state?" he added.
Tejashwi Yadav arrived at Shri Krishna Medical College and Hospital in Muzaffarpur to meet the injured and families of the deceased of the incident.
Nine children were killed and 24 others, majority of them students, were injured when a car rammed into a government school building at Ahiyapur in Muzaffarpur.
