Batting legends Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting were among those who tweeted their best wishes to one-day international skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni after his shock retirement from Test cricket today.
"Well done on wonderful career in test cricket,MS Dhoni,Always enjoyed playing together.Next target 2015 WC my friend!!" tweeted Tendulkar.
Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting called Dhoni a 'great comeptitor and someone who Indian cricket owes a lot to'.
"A great competitor, and someone who I think Indian cricket owes a lot to," tweeted Ponting.
Batsman Suresh Raina also tweeted a photo with Dhoni and wrote, "Valiant while you led. Valiant in your departure."

Cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle also termed Dhoni a role model.
"MS Dhoni showed India what a tough man from a small town could dream and achieve. He has been a role model. Respect," said Bhogle.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan said it was the right time to take Indian test team forward under Virat Kolhi, who will be the captain of the Indian Team for the Fourth and Final Test against Australia in Sydney.
"Love the way @msdhoni plays the game ... But it's now the right time for @imVkohli to take the Indian Test team in a new direction...." said Vaughan.
Dhoni, who led India to the number one position in the Test rankings, announced his retirement from Test Cricket on Tuesday citing the strain of playing all formats of Cricket.
Releasing a statement, BCCI thanked Dhoni for his enormous contribution to test cricket and the laurels that he brought to India.
