Tennis star Madison Keys has revealed that she prefers not to be identified by her race.
The 19-year-old, who was asked if she saw the significance in being a young African-American taking on Venus and Serena Williams in consecutive Australian Open matches, replied that it's something that's always there obviously, but she is very much right in the middle, E! Online reported.
Keys, whose mother Christine is white and father Rick is black, added that she doesn't really identify herself as white or African-American as she is just "Madison."
The biracial beauty, who has beat out 34-year-old Venus Williams in a match on 28 Jan and took on Serena Williams recently but lost the competition against her, said that Serena's always been one of the best, and she will forever be one of the best tennis players in women's tennis, hence, so much respect for that and so much respect towards her and her game.
Serena also complimented Keys by saying that it's good to see another American, another African-American, in the semifinals playing so well.
