Congress leader Manish Tewari on Wednesday raised questions on Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar's visit to Pakistan, asking why the issues such as the terror boat incident and high life of Lakhvi were sidelined.

"Mr. Prime Minister, this country would like to know that the Foreign Secretary went to Pakistan. Did he raise the issue of the terror boat which ostensibly was supposed to carry out an outage against the Pravasi Bharatiya Divas? Did the Foreign Secretary raise the matter of the high life of Lakhvi in Adiala jail?" Tewari said.

"Did Pakistan give any assurance that they would stop patronising Hurriyat or dismantle the terror networks aimed in India? And, if that is not the case, then why Mr. Prime Minister did the Foreign Secretary go to Pakistan because it was your government which decided to call off the talks in last August, primarily because the Pakistani High Commissioner had met the Hurriyat leadership," he added.

Foreign Secretary S. Jaishankar flew to Islamabad yesterday morning as part of his "SAARC yatra" and held extensive talks with his Pakistani counterpart Aizaz Chaudhary. He also called on Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and his Advisor on Foreign Affairs and National Security Sartaj Aziz.
