Two terrorists, who were gunned down by the security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district earlier today, belonged to terror organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

The Jammu and Kashmir Police confirmed this on the basis of incriminating materials seized from their possession.

"Two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed during an encounter in Anantnag today. The identity of one the terrorists has been ascertained," Kashmir Inspector General SP Pani told ANI.

One of the terrorists was identified as Bilal Ahmad Dar, while the identity of the other is yet to be ascertained.

In recent months, the state has witnessed a huge spurt in terror activities.

On July 24, a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel was killed and two others sustained bullet injuries after terrorists attacked a CRPF party at Srinagar's Batmaloo area.
