Congress leader Shashi Tharoor on Monday dubbed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a 'master communicator' but said that mere communication is not enough, and there should be substance behind the communication.
"I said Narendra Modi is a master communicator but communication is not enough. We need results and action on the ground. Voters want a man of action not a man of words. They have got a man of words," Tharoor told ANI.
"So, my point is actually not praise as your headlines have all been saying. It was actually a criticism that communication is not enough, there should be substance behind the communication," he added.
Tharoor also said that the media is wrong in reporting that he has praised Prime Minister Modi.
"I have seen the newspapers also and it has become again 'Tharoor praises Modi', Tharoor is saying Modiji your communication is not enough for the nation," Tharoor said.
"You can have slogans and sound bites but unless there is a budget, unless there is an implementation plan, unless there is an executing authority, things don't get done," he added.
Tharoor had earlier in the past also showered praise on Prime Minister Modi which had not gone well with the Congress.
