The third and the final Twenty20 match of the three-match series between India and South Africa on Thursday cancelled due to wet outfield at the Eden Gardens.

Earlier, the wet outfield due to the afternoon rain had delayed the match, but eventually the authorities decided to call it off.

The match was the last opportunity for India to bounce back and gain some momentum after losing the three-match home T20 series against the tourists.

With the cancellation, South Africa have clinched the three-match series 2-0 against India, after claiming a seven-wicket win in their first match at Dharamsala and six-wicket win in their second match in Cuttack.

Both sides will now take on each other in five ODIs, followed by a series of four Test matches.
