The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday stated that those who were responsible for the controversial Air India-Boeing deal of 2006 must be held accountable as per the course of law.

"In the Air India-Boeing deal of 2006, where 68 Boeing planes were bought, I believe the law should take its own course. And those who are responsible for this corruption should definitely be punished," BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra told ANI here.

Air India's order to buy 68 Boeing aircraft in 2006 is being investigated by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), an order which has been disclosed by the civil aviation ministry in a reply to a Right to Information (RTI) application, according to reports.

Under the chairmanship of V Thulasidas, Air India changed the original order from that of 28 to 68 aircrafts. The CBI is now investigating why Air India changed its original order.
