At least three people have been feared dead after a police helicopter crashed into Clutha Vaults bar in Glasgow that was hosting a live music event.
The police helicopter carrying two police officers and a civilian when it crashed into the pub just before 10.30 at night causing multiple injuries.
Scotland's first minister, Alex Salmond, said that they must all prepare for the likelihood of fatalities and posted a tweet confirming the accident, the Guardian reports.
A Labour frontbench MP, Jim Murphy who was driving by the scene at the time, stopped his car to help, and said that members of the public formed a human chain to help get people out of the building.
An eyewitness, Grace MacLean, who was inside the pub at the time, said that it was fairly busy and they were having a nice time when suddenly there was just a whoosh noise but no bang or explosion and the roof came down.
Police Scotland Deputy Chief Constable Rose Fitzpatrick, said that the rescue operation with colleagues from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Scottish Ambulance Service was going on, adding that it was early to provide details around why the helicopter crashed.
A nine-piece Glasgow ska band, Esperanza was playing at the venue at the time of the incident, the report added.
