The National Investigation Agency (NIA) of the Guwahati Branch has arrested three terrorists of the National Democratic Front of Bodoland (Songbijit) in connection with the Shantipur - Saralpara incident.
22-year old Armish Basumatary, 42-year old Lothen Basumatary and 33-year old Gangaraj Wary were wanted for their involvement in the criminal conspiracy and execution of the terrorist killings.
As many as 12 innocent villagers were killed and three seriously injured on December 23, 2014, in Shantipur village in indiscriminate firing by a group of NDFB (S) terrorists.
They have been remanded to NIA police custody for three days for their custodial interrogation.
With these arrests, the number of NDFB(S) cadres arrested by the NIA till date stands at 61 with 45 being chargesheeted till date.
