Three New York residents arrested for plotting to join hands with IS in Syria

Three residents of New York City have been arrested for allegedly plotting to travel to Syria to join hands with Islamic State (IS) militants, said the U.S. Justice Department.

Two citizens were identified as Uzbekistan citizens and one a citizen of Kazakhstan, reported Fox News.

One of the residents arrested also said that he would kill the United States President if ordered to do so.

The men were identified as Abdurasul Hasanovich Juraboev, 24, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Uzbekistan; Akhror Saidakhmetov, 19, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Kazakhstan; and Abror Habibov, 30, a resident of Brooklyn and a citizen of Uzbekistan.

 

Saidakhmetov and Juraboev were ordered by a federal court in Brooklyn to be held without bail on charges of attempt and conspiracy to provide support to a terrorist group.

Habibov was also held without bail after he appeared in federal court in Florida.
