Forest guards patrolling the Kaziranga National Park gunned down three poachers in the early hours of Wednesday.
According to reports, the encounter occurred at Burhapahar range of the park. The guards engaged five poachers, but two managed to escape. Rifles and silencers have also been recovered from the slain poachers.
The Assam government has also reportedly sought the army's help to prevent rhino poaching in Kaziranga.
