Tibetan calligraphy exhibition held in Dharamsala

The hill town of Dharmasala hosted the first ever Tibetan calligraphy exhibition at Mcleodganj TCV Day school on Saturday.

Former Tibetan prime minister in-exile Samdong Rinpoche inaugurated the two-day exhibition here.

Various pictures of calligraphy artist Jamyang Dorjee were displayed here for the visitors. Jamyang made it to the Guinness World Records in 2001 for the world's longest calligraphy scroll of 538 ft.

Jamyang Dorjee said, "This is for the first time Tibetan hand writing has come out as a form of calligraphy art and also the Utsang Association of my own community they wanted to facilitate me for the world record that I had made in 2001 for the longest calligraphy scroll in the world that's 165 meters so therefore I am able to come here and my friends Indo Tibetan friendship association they also wanted to see my work so I am happy to be here in Dharamshala."

 

A Tibetan organization, Utsang Association, organized the event where various art lovers came to see the ancient art of calligraphy.
