"Indian people and government have been very very kind for us for more than fifty four years and I take this opportunity to thank people and government of India and wish you all a very very happy Diwali," Tsering added.

Tibet's Home minister in-exile, Dolma Gayri said, "Diwali is lots of lights, the festival of victory of truth so, therefore, we associate ourselves very much with this festival. We have been receiving sweets we have been meeting people greeting and I think in India, Diwali is not a Hindu festival but it's a festival of India so therefore all people who live in India even tourist who come here during this time they also enjoy and be part of this festival."

"We wish on behalf of central Tibetan administration the people of this great country a very- very delightful bright year ahead and happy Diwali," Gayri added.

Diwali is being celebrated with great fervour and gaiety all across the country as it marks the return of Lord Ram to Ayodhya in Ayodhya after he defeated Ravana, the powerful king of Lanka. Diwali is also celebrated in honour of Lakshmi, the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity.
