Tibetan Youth Congress protest continues in Delhi, many detained

The Tibetan Youth Congress had also staged a protest on Wednesday outside the Chinese Embassy, before being detained by the Delhi Police

Members of the Tibetan Youth Congress continued their protest today outside the Hotel Taj Palace here, against Chinese President Xi Jinping's three- day visit to India.

Tibetan activists also protested near Dhaula Kuan, with one man climbing a pole with a Free Tibet flag tied to his waist.

The Tibetan Youth Congress had also staged a protest on Wednesday outside the Chinese Embassy, before being detained by the Delhi Police.

Tenzin Jigme, the president of the Tibetan Youth Congress said, "The situation inside Tibet is very critical. Since 2009, over 130 people in Tibet have set themselves on fire. We want such issues to be resolved. The Chinese president must listen to these issues and find a solution for them."

 

Reports say that security has been heightened around the Chinese embassy in the capital during the Chinese President visit and the police are also on an alert.
