Tibetans in exile staged a protest here today appealing to the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi to raise the Tibetan issue with Chinese Foreign Minister, Wang Yi who is in India for a bilateral meet.
Tibetan youth Congress President, Tanzin Jigme said that the aim of the protest is to appeal to the PM to discuss Tibetan issue with Wang Yi and come up with measures to stop self immolation cases.
"Today the Chinese foreign minister Wang Yi is coming to India upon the invitation of PM Narendra Modi so we are here to raise awareness about Tibet and urge PM Modi that when he meets Chinese Foreign Minister today he should talk about Tibet, raise the issue about Tibet and really we want to inform Narendra Modi that there are lot of atrocities happening in Tibet since 1959," said Jigme
"Tibet has been illegally occupied by the Chinese government since 2009; we have had about 130 self immolation activities in Tibet. Tibetans are living in exile and will never forget the Tibet issue," Jigme added.
The protesters shouted anti China slogans and held banners reading appeals to Modi to care for Tibet.

Wang Yi will be meeting India's Foreign Minister, Sushma Swaraj today to boost ties between the two countries. He will also be meeting Indian president Pranab Mukherjee and PM Modi.
This will be the first meeting between the two governments after the formation of new government.
Chinese Premier Li Keqiang already spoke to Modi over phone soon after he was sworn in.
