Tiger Woods continued to struggle with form as he slumped to yet another 10-over par 80 score in the first round of the US Open at Chambers Bay.

The former number one had a triple bogey seven and is 14 shots behind Dustin Johnson of United States and Sweden's Henrik Stenson who led on five under, the BBC reported.

Stenson, who is leading Europe's bid for a fifth US Open victory in six years, birdied four of his last five holes to card an opening five-under-par 65 and joined Johnson in the clubhouse lead, with Ryder Cup star Patrick Reed a shot behind.

Meanwhile, world number one Rory Mcllroy looked set for a solid opening round after mixing two birdies and two bogeys on his front nine but was unable to drive the green on the short par-four 12th and had to settle for par.
