Former world number one Tiger Woods showcased traces of his dominant best as he posted his best round of the year by firing a four-under-par 66 on the opening day of the Greenbrier Classic.

The 14-times major champion shot seven birdies in West Virginia to record his lowest score since March 2014, the BBC reported.

Woods, who is currently ranked 220th in the world, struggled for form this season and carded his worst score in the US Open at Chambers Bay.

The American had shot the worst round of his professional career with a 13-over-par 85 at the Memorial Tournament in Ohio last week.
