Hull City was relegated from the Premier League as the team drew with Manchester United, where Marouane Fellaini was sent off for a wild challenge with Paul McShane.

Hull City needed to win the match to give themselves any hope of survival, but Newcastle's victory over West Ham took the issue out of their hands.

Newcastle's victory assured that the two year stay of Steve Bruce's team ended at the Premier League.

Hull, however, did create chances, which unfortunately were denied by Manchester United's goalkeeper Victor Valdes, who made excellent saves.

Manchester United suffered a huge blow when Marouane Fellaini was sent off for a crude challenge on Paul McShane, 13 minutes from time.

After the match, Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal said that they played their best matches against the top six and worst matches against the bottom six, reported the BBC.

Hull City began their Premier League campaign with one of their big summer signings, Robert Snodgrass, suffering a season-ending knee injury half an hour into his debut.

Here they ended it with another centre forward, Abel Hernandez, missing the ball completely in front of an open goal with 10 minutes to go.
