Delhi Police Commissioner B.S. Bassi on Tuesday expressed confidence that the second undertrial, who escaped from the Tihar jail, would be nabbed at the earliest.
"These issues are within the purview of jail authorities. So, they will definitely look into the matter because they are competent enough to take care of these aspects. As far as we are concerned, our focus will remain on to nab the person at the earliest," Bassi said.
"We will focus to find out how this incident was executed and whether he was getting any help from outside or not . In jail, there is a regular uniform force that looks after the security of jail and they have been doing this job very well. So, I am sure they will be looking into all the aspects," he added.
"Whenever we conduct our investigation, it is done under the provisions of CRPC and also keeping in view the provision of Indian Evidence Act. So, we are not concerned with what others are doing. We are focusing on the catching of the person. The investigating officer will take a call after we catch Javed," he added.
The two prisoners had scaled a wall and dug a tunnel in the dead of night to escape from jail. One of the prisoners, Faizan, has been caught but the other, Javed, is on the run.
The jailbreak took place during the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday and came to the notice of jail authorities only when the two inmates were found missing during the morning roll call.
