Filmmaker Tim Story is reportedly in talks to helm a live-action Tom and Jerry movie for Warner Bros.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Warner Bros. is also producing an animated Scooby-Doo movie, and has roped in 'Harry Potter' filmmaker Chris Columbus as the creative producer.

Tom and Jerry began as a series of long-running shorts in 1940, created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera. The series centered around the exploits of a cat, Tom, and his relentless arguments and tussles with Jerry, a mouse.

The cat and mouse pair, till date, remains one of the most popular in pop culture consciousness.

Scooby-Doo, on the other hand, revolves around a gang of friends who solve mysteries with the help of their Great Dane. It last hit the big screen in 2004 in the form of a live-action/hybrid 'Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed.
