Attacking the Congress for bringing down previous governments in the state, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) chief Amit Shah on Wednesday said it was time to bring a functioning government in the state, which only his party can ensure.
"Whenever a government used to be formed, the Congress and some people would take steps to bring down that government. I have no hesitation in saying that Jharkhand has seen governments form and fall, but it has not seen a functioning government in Jharkhand; now it is time to bring a functioning government. Neither Babulal, nor Guruji or the Congress can provide such a functioning government, it is only the BJP which can ensure of such a government," Shah said at an election rally here.
Stating that Jharkhand had not witnessed a stable government since 2000, the BJP chief added that if coal and iron is used for the welfare of the people then Jharkhand can become a better state.
"If the coal and iron is used for the welfare of the people then Jharkhand can become a better state. From 2000 to 2014, not a single government has been stable. This small and backward state has witnessed nine governments and thrice President's rule in fourteen years," Shah said.
He also assured the people that if BJP came to power in Jharkhand, then it would ensure the state becomes number one in the country.
"If the people decide that this time they will form a BJP government, I want to assure you that under the leadership of (Prime Minister) Narendra Modi will make Jharkhand become number one state in the country," the BJP chief added.
The first, second and the third phase polling has been completed in Jharkhand while the fourth and the fifth phase of polling will take place on December 14 and December 20 respectively. The counting of votes will take place on December 23.
