Trinamool Congress MPs on Tuesday staged a protest outside Parliament accusing the Central Government of using the CBI to subjugate state governments and opposing the cuts in funds allotted to the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).

Party leader Saugata Roy said the 'dharna' was against the 'assault on the federal structure' by the BJP-led Central government.

"Our 'dharna' today is against the assault of the federal structure by the BJP-led Central government, starting from cutting allocations for NREGA, the Central government is using CBI to subjugate ... state governments," senior TMC leader Saugata Roy told media persons.

TMC MPs had yesterday draped themselves in black shawls and staged a protest outside Parliament against the arrest of West Bengal Transport Minister Madan Mitra over his alleged involvement in the multi-crore Saradha chit fund scam.

Some of the MPs also displayed photographs of Sahara group chief Subrata Roy shaking hands with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which the MPs could be seen holding today as well.
