Supporters of the Trinamool Congress party's labour organization I.N.T.T.U.C took to streets in Asansol demanding resumption of state agriculture minister after state chief Mamata Banerjee suspended him.
Indian National Trinamool Trade Union Congress (I.N.T.T.U.C) workers blocked the roads in the steel city.
Emerging strong against the Modi wave, Trinamool Congress supremo and Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee suspended state Agriculture Minister, Malay Ghatak who suffered a befitting defeat from BJP candidate Babul Supriyo from the constituency in the parliamentary polls.
I.N.T.T.U.C protested on the National Highway of the state and shouted anti-Banerjee slogans.
Leader of regional, Trinamool Congress Party (TMC), Raju Aluwalia said the labour organisation demands reappointment of Ghatak as he had worked for the development of the area.
"We the labour and people of Asansol want justice from Mamata Banerjee for suspension of Malay Ghatak from Agriculture ministry. She must start an investigation of what was the situation of Asanosl and what is right now. We will not support suspension of Malay. Investigation must take place about the people who are actually responsible for this thing. He has developed Asansol area. We are protesting everywhere in Asansol," he said.

Bagging a clean sweep in 34 out of 42 seats, TMC emerged as the fourth largest party.
Trinamool nominees and political greenhorns like Moon Moon Sen, Tapash Pal, Shatabdi Roy, Dinesh Trivedi, Mamata Banerjee's nephew Abhishek Banerjee pulled off a major victory by defeating their rivals.
A TMC supporter, Samaresh Ghosh said Ghatak was an honest minister with a clean report card therefore labor party workers fully support him.
"Malay Ghatak is with Trinamool since 1998. We are expressing our agitation on his suspension by protest. People who are actually wrong doers should be punished rather than Malay, who has worked towards the development of Asansol. We are protesting against his suspension. People of Asansol are with Malay," Ghosh said.
