The Tamil Nadu police on Monday recovered eleven bombs from a garbage dump in the city, thus averting what security forces are suspecting was a major terror strike.
According to reports, the bombs, tied together by a thread, were dumped in the Anna Nagar area of the city. After being discovered, the police called the bomb squad to help dispose the bombs. The police also cordoned off the area and restricted traffic in and around the locality.
However, the police was not able to confirm if the bombs were crude or Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs).
In 2011, a bomb reportedly weighing seven kilograms was found on the outskirts of the city just an hour before Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader LK Advani was meant to travel past that neighbourhood.
