A top official of the International Labor Organization (ILO), who is scheduled to arrive today in Sri Lanka, is likely to hold talks on sustainable development.
According to the Lanka Page web site, this is the first official visit of Tomoko Nishimoto, the ILO Assistant Director General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific, to the island nation.
During her week-long visit, Nishimoto will hold talks with the Director General of the Employer's Federation of Ceylon and Trade Union leaders.
Nishimoto is also expected to hold meetings with the UN Country Team and other development partners.
Nishimoto, who was appointed as Assistant Director-General and Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific in January 2015, oversees the ILO's operations in the 34 ILO member States in Asia and the Pacific.
