Top Pakistani diplomat to the United Nations (UN) Maleeha Lodhi has warned that Pakistan will respond forcefully to any destabilization attempts in the country or to attacks to territorial integrity.

According to Dawn News, Lodhi told the UN Security Council that Pakistan will be relentless sin rooting out terrorism whether it is sponsored by internal sources or external.

Lodhi told the 15-member council that Pakistan had condemned the recent rise in violence in Afghanistan, including the "atrocious" attack on the Afghan parliament.

Ambassador Lodhi spoke after the quarterly briefing by Nicholas Haysom, Special Representative of the Secretary General and Head of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (Unama).
