The Canadian police on Monday identified the shooter of the Toronto rampage as Faisal Hussain.

Monica Hudon of Ontario's Special Investigations Unit was quoted by CNN saying the assailant was identified after authorities spoke with Faisal's family, who are living in Toronto.

Police chief Mark Saunders told CNN that a girl aged 10 years and a young woman of 18 years were killed in the shooting that took place at Greektown (Danforth) neighbourhood, an area dominated by the Greeks, in the city.

He added that the police are investigating "every possible motive, including terrorism."

Canadian authorities, meanwhile, have not said whether the shooter was killed by a self-inflicting wound or by the police. A postmortem report is set to come by Tuesday.

According to Toronto Police, the shooting took place at around 10 p.m. on Sunday (local time).

Toronto Police Sergeant Glenn Russell told CNN that the victims have been sent to different trauma centers for treatment.

Meanwhile, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau condoled the 'terrible' Toronto shooting on social media.

"My thoughts are with everyone affected by the terrible tragedy on the Danforth last night in Toronto, and may the injured make a full recovery. The people of Toronto are strong, resilient and brave - and we'll be there to support you through this difficult time," he tweeted.
