At least five people, including three minor girls, were killed on Friday when the roof of their mud-walled house collapsed due to the torrential rains in Balochistan's Sherani district.

Torrential rains have wreaked havoc in the districts of Sherani, Zhob and other areas, Levies officials said in a telephonic conversation, reports Dawn.

The incident occurred in the Shna Ponga area of Sherani district.

The Levies officials confirmed that among those killed were a mother, her three daughters and a minor son.

Local tribesmen reached the site of the incident and recovered the bodies from the rubble.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) stated that three other people have also died in Chaghi and Mastung districts of the province.

In Quetta, torrential rains have caused cracks in houses situated in the Muslim Town area.

The National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has alerted the PDMA to tackle the emerging situations as efficiently as possible.

The Chief Minister of Balochistan has also directed the PDMA and the concerned Deputy Commissioners to step-up their efforts and ensure safety of the residents.
