Toshiba Corporation announced that its Thai-based company, Toshiba Semiconductor Thailand (TST), has completed its relocation to a new semiconductor manufacturing facility and started mass production.
It marks the company's full recovery from the devastating 2011 floods when it shut down its original plant in Patumtani.
The new plant in Prachinburi, 140 km away from Bangkok is 1.4 times the size of original plant with state-of-the-art modern techniques of production.
The new plant will operate at its current target capacity but has a room for expansion, enabling it to respond quickly to the growing demand.
Yasuo Ashizawa, President of TST was enthralled about the new plant and thanked TST's employees and Thai authorities for their continued support.

"We are all delighted that the new plant is now up and running. I thank the Thai authorities for all the support we have received for our relocation, the construction company for its dedication and efficiency and most of all our employees who have stayed with us throughout and made every effort to get it up and running", he said.
Sounding optimistic about the new plant, Ashizawa added, "We have rebuilt the capacity with more modern and productive equipment, and we look forward to supporting a new round of expansion in Toshiba group's discrete business."
During its suspension period in Thailand, Toshiba transferred production to its facilities in Japan and Malaysia.
With the new plant the company plans to reintegrate its operations and contribute to the overall strength of the organisation.
