Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur is eyeing Manchester United's Javier Hernandez after the striker admitted that he may have to leave Old Trafford.

According to the Mirror, Hernandez claimed he needs more playing time, either at United or elsewhere, after starting just two of David Moyes' 11 games in charge at Old Trafford.

Spurs, who were interested in signing 25-year-old Hernandez in the summer, have noted that message, the report said.

Despite splashing out 26 million pounds on Roberto Soldado, Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas will look to strengthen his striking options in January, the report added.

Tottenham are aware they would face a battle to convince United to sell Hernandez to a Premier League rival during the season, particularly with the London club currently three points ahead of Moyes' team in the table, the report further said

However, that won't stop Spurs making an enquiry if the Mexican, nicknamed Chicharito, continues to sit on the bench, according to the report.

Spanish club Atletico Madrid has also shown an interest in Hernandez, the report mentioned.
