The Tourism Ministry today adopted certain resolutions at the Second National Conference of Tourism Ministers, with women's safety kept as a priority.
The resolutions included ensuring safety and security of tourists, especially women, by running a mass awareness campaign called "I respect women"; to ensure cleanliness at various tourism destinations involving all stakeholders; to impart working spoken knowledge of a foreign language to the officials dealing with tourists; to rationalize the tax structure to make various tourism destinations competitive; to promote seamless travel, grant necessary licenses and no objection certificates for various tourism services in a time bound manner; and to assess the carrying capacity of various tourism destinations especially at religious places on the basis of the principles of environmental sustainability.
All these resolutions were adopted by the departments of Tourism of all States and Union Territories in the last National Conference of Tourism Ministers' held on July 18, 2013.
