Tall England bowler Chris Tremlett is happy to have brought himself into contention for a place in the Old Trafford Test despite struggling with injury, and is desperate for another taste of Ashes glory.

According to the Mirror, the man who sealed England's 3-1 Ashes win Down Under in 2011, when he bowled Michael Beer in Sydney, said the chance to do something similar this summer has been his main motivation on his return from injury.

Back and then knee problems that both needed surgery have kept Tremlett out of the international scene for the past 18 months, the report said.

However, the report added that a sustained spell of cricket for Surrey, followed by an impressive couple of net sessions with the team ahead of the second Test, was enough to put him back in the mix for selection.
