England fast bowler Chris Tremlett may be set for an extended stay in Australia after the second Ashes series if the Big Bash League (BBL) franchise Sydney Sixers manage to sign him for the tournament, slated to start from December 2013.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, the imposing 2.01m tall Surrey quick, who has been drafted into the 14-man English squad for the third Test at a bouncy Old Trafford, have made an impression on recruiters for the SCG-based Sixers, who went on to triumph in last year's rich T20 Champions League.

The report further said that Tremlett's talents, combined with his towering height with a penchant for pace and accuracy has made him an interest for the Sixers for the extended tournament in the upcoming season.

Meanwhile, the report said that the paceman has not played for England for 15 months due to a series of injuries, and despite being included ahead of Steven Finn and Graham Onions for Manchester, is not certain to feature with James Anderson, Tim Bresnan and Stuart Broad also in the squad.

However, former England captain and Surrey executive director Alec Stewart warned Australia that Tremlett is near to the level he found in that last Ashes tour in 2010/11, in which he claimed 17 wickets in three matches, adding that he is now bowling better, is strong in the mind and has had a taste of Ashes success.

The Sixers have seamers Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Trent Copeland on their books but are looking to boost their roster with Starc likely to be busy for most or all of the BBL with Australian commitments, the report added.
