Former Sri Lankan coach Trevor Bayliss, who led the team to the 2011 World Cup finals, is all set to be appointed as coach of England team, leaving Jason Gillespie in the shadows.

The New South Wales coach had a discussion with England's cricket new director, Andrew Strauss, at the weekend.

Bayliss was initially reluctant for the coaching job of England. But after offering a concrete offer with a heavy pay package, it seems that Strauss has finally landed his man after a proper interview process, the Guardian reported.

His appointment would come as a bit of surprise after Gillespie appeared to be favourite for the job. However the former Australian fast bowler remained concerned about the time he would be spending with his young family.

Bayliss never played international cricket, and represented New South Wales as a middle order batsman in the late 1980's and early 90s.
