Oscar Pistorius' deceased girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp's mother has claimed that the Paralympics runner would have shot someone else dead sooner of later.

June Steenkamp has claimed that Pistorius shot Reeva dead in a jealous rage, then finished her off with three more bullets so she couldn't tell the world what really happened.

June said that the athlete was gun toting, trigger-happy, jealous and combustible and if he had not killed Reeva it would have been someone else sooner or later, The Times reported.

The double-amputee, a sprinter once hailed as the Blade Runner, was sentenced to five years in prison for culpable homicide on Tuesday. He was acquitted of premeditated murder.

Pistorius has maintained during his trial that he mistook his girlfriend for an intruder in his Pretoria home on Valentines Day last year, the report added.
