The journalists, poets and writers in Agratala participated in the rally organised by the Agartala Press Club condemning the attack in Paris against those working for the French satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo.
"Our message is to protect the democratic right of the people, to protect the rights and privilege of the media and newspapers so that they can work freely and independently. With these demands we have today took out a peace procession to raise voice against mindless terrorism which has no future," said Satyabrata Chakraborty, president of Agartala Press Club.
Journalists condemned the terrorist attack and raised their voice against all racist acts in the name of any religious denomination, ideology or conviction, which is against human life.
Dipankar Sengupta, a journalist said, "We want a peaceful fair world which cannot be possible if terrorism exists."
Meanwhile, Akbar Ahmed, a renowned writer said, "We are protesting against terrorism which is going on throughout the globe. Terrorism has no religion or caste and is enemy of the civilization and trying to divide people."
According to him attack on media is attack against freedom of speech and expression as well as against the democratic principles.
