Tripura on Tuesday celebrated Mahashivratri with great pomp, with devotees across the state thronging temples to offer prayers to Lord Shiva.
Temples in and around Agartala were decorated as part of the celebrations, with special pujas, like the rudrabhisheka and the alankara organised.
"Today is Shivaratri and so we have gathered here pray for the prosperity of our family," said a devotee, Monimala Saha.
The Mahashivratri festival is celebrated every year on the 14th day of the Krishna Paksha of the month of Falgun as per the Hindu calendar.
Devotees, mainly women, queue up at temples for a darshana of Lord Shiva, and to perform special pujas with milk, ghee and honey.
