A truck skid off a bridge here on Friday and damaged a railway line.
No casualties were, however, reported.
The truck, carrying sand, was moving on an overhead bridge above a railway line, when the driver lost control and landed on the railway line breaking a portion of the bridge.
"The driver of the truck lost control and the truck skid off the bridge onto the railway line below it. The truck was overloaded, which is possibly why the driver couldn't control it," said a police officer, Kashmir Singh.
"According to information with us, movement of at least seven trains have been affected because of the accident. The bridge on which the truck was moving has also been damaged. A crane is being brought to the site to remove the truck from the railway line," said a railways official, Rajwinder Singh.
Road accidents are common in India, where roads are often of poor quality and vehicles are usually overloaded with passengers.
Transport officials attribute a large number of accidents in India to reckless driving and untrained drivers.
