United States President Donald Trump has greeted a Merry Christmas to the troops from all five military branches stationed abroad during a teleconference from Mar-a-Lago, where he is spending the holidays with his family.
Trump briefly addressed members of the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard stationed in Qatar, Kuwait and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and patrolling the Strait of Hormuz in the Middle East.
"Wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas. . And most importantly, on behalf of American people, we're incredibly grateful for you and your families, always underappreciated," Fox News quoted Trump as saying.
"Every American heart is thankful to you and we are asking God to watch over you and to watch over your families," Trump added.
Trump took questions from the service members after the media were escorted out of the room.
The President took the occasion to brag that Americans, under him, are now proudly saying Merry Christmas.
