United States President Donald Trump has called on the Congress to advance a 1.5 trillion dollars bill to "rebuild our crumbling infrastructure" in his first official State of the Union speech on Tuesday.
" Tonight, I am calling on the Congress to produce a bill that generates at least 1.5 trillion dollars for the new infrastructure investment that our country so desperately needs," the US President underscored.
To fund the bill and "permanently" improve the deficit, Trump said all federal appropriations should be "leveraged by partnering with State and local governments and, where appropriate, tapping into private sector investment."
"Every Federal dollar should be leveraged by partnering with State and local governments and, where appropriate, tapping into private sector investment -- to permanently fix the infrastructure deficit, and we can do it," Trump added.
He also called for the legislation to reduce the time required to approve building permits to as little as one to two years.
