Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan branded a prominent female journalist as 'shameless' and told her to 'know her place' following her comments in a television debate.
Erdogan made headlines last month when he said that women should not laugh loudly.
According to News24, Erdogan lashed out at Amberin Zaman who works for the Economist and the Turkish daily Taraf. However, he did not name the journalist directly.
The Turkish PM also accused the journalist saying that she was a militant in disguise and she was insulting the Muslim society.
Zaman had asked the main opposition leader Kemal Kilicdaroglu whether any Muslim society could challenge the authorities.
According to News24, Erdogan's comments came after the presidential elections on Sunday wherein he is expected to win.
