The Janata Dal (United) on Monday extended its support to Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav's statement on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), saying that merely turning to full pants won't modernize the right wing organisation.
"Lalu ji has said this after a thoughtful process because by merely wearing full pants instead of half pants would not turn you (RSS) into a modern RSS. You have to change your mentality, you have to change your thinking and you have to act in today's terms. Just talking of Hindu fringe is not going to make them modern," JD (U) spokesperson Ajay Alok told ANI
"We fully support Lalu ji that if you (RSS) don't change your mentality then it is better to be in half pants," he added.
With the RSS replacing the khakhi shorts with brown trousers, Lalu Prasad Yadav had yesterday pledged to return the volunteer organisation in 'half pants' again.
"The RSS has updated itself because they are now in power. They would wear full pants instead of half pants, but we would again make them return in 'half pants'," Lalu had said
"We have to remove BJP from the entire nation," he added.

The announcement about the change in the dress code of the RSS was made in Nagpur by RSS general secretary Suresh (Bhaiyyaji) Joshi.
"We have changed our uniform. We move with the times and are not rigid," Mr. Joshi said. "We have decided to replace the khaki shorts with brown trousers."
He said the details of when the new uniform will become functional will be worked out. Care would be taken to ensure that the new trousers would be comfortable while doing physical activities, a component of the daily routine of the RSS morning shakhas (branches), he said, saying even cricketers and martial artistes wear full trousers.
