Senior television journalist Ashutosh on Saturday formally joined the Aam Aadmi Party.
Ashutosh, who was the managing editor of the IBN7 news channel, had resigned recently to join the AAP.
Addressing a press conference along with Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Ashutosh said, "You all must be wondering why a journalist is entering politics. I think, there are several moments in history when you have to play a decisive role. And if you don't do this and instead choose to stay silent, then history never forgives you."
"After the struggle for freedom, it is for the first time that the whole country is eager to change itself. People want to change the existing political system," he added.
"As a journalist, I was a part of Anna Hazare campaign against corruption. Afterwards I thought that it is a big moment in the history and that's why wrote a book on it. And now I m here," he said.
"System should be such where there is participation of the public. If there is no public participation, then there is no basis to democracy," he added.
