At least 49 people have been killed and dozens injured in twin blasts that rocked a market in the northeast Nigerian city of Gombe on Thursday, rescue workers said.
The first blast took place outside a crowded footwear shop and was followed by a second explosion outside a china shop just minutes later, said a local trader.
He added that the area was thronged with customers doing last-minute shopping on the eve of Eid festival, marking the end of the holy month of Ramzan, reported News24.
The attack came just two days after President Muhammudu Buhari appointed new military chiefs.
