Twitter CEO Dick Costolo calls on PM Modi

The chief executive officer of Twitter Dick Costolo on Tuesday called on Prime Minister Modi in the national capital.

During their meeting, the Prime Minister spoke about avenues through which Twitter can help in schemes started by his government, like the 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' and the 'Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao' initiatives.

Prime Minister Modi also urged Costolo to help promote India's tourist potential across the world, as well as talking of how the social media can contribute to the International Yoga Day.

Costolo said that he sees India's youth as an opportunity for Twitter to grow, and shared his company's innovations to enhance connectivity between users with the Prime Minister.

 

Later, Prime Minister tweeted about their encounter.

"Wonderful meeting you @dickc! Had a fruitful discussion on several issues," he posted.

According to recent surveys, Twitter accounts for 17 per cent of the total social network users in India, with 22.2 million people using the micro-blogging site.
